Salaries for people wishing to follow the Assessment Only route to QTS are set by the employing school.

School Direct Salaried Programme

Trainees will be paid at the equivalent to point 1 on the unqualified teachers’ pay scale – £17,628 (FTE).  Please be aware that academies and free schools are able to set their own pay scales so the salary may vary between different schools in the same partnership. Please also be aware that the programme is typically 10 months and the accelerated part-time programme is paid at 0.8 as the programme is only 4 days a week.

Bursaries

Dependant on the classification of your degree and the subject you wish to teach, you may be eligible for a bursary or scholarship as detailed below:

To receive a bursary or scholarship, trainees must be entitled to support under the Student Finance England criteria as either a home or EU student.

Applicants with a degree from outside the UK should refer to the equivalency table to see if their degree is likely to attract a bursary.

Trainees in chemistry, computing, maths and physics are able to apply for a teacher training scholarship with the appropriate professional body. Scholarships are awarded in place of a bursary. experience.  Trainees awarded a scholarship cannot also receive a bursary.
